> Welcome to PGM’s first Thee Best Portable Games Awards!!! Our crew will name out the best game for each portable system!!!
> Firemint highly anticipated racing car simulator Real Racing 2 has easily won Thee Best IPhone Game of 2011. Simply put, “This game is AMAZING in every way.” Firemint has put a lot of thought into what makes a fun and deep racing car game experience for the IPhone. Everything from the easy to read menus to the fast online matchmaking makes this game a polished experiences that puts Gameloft’s lazy game designs to shame.
> For starters the graphics are really nice and deserves an applause. Utilizing Firemints own game engine Real Racing 2 stands out as one sexy looking game. The cars have a realistic shine to them as they reflect the surroundings as you zoom past them at 100 mph. The tracks are very detailed and unique with an amazing draw distance.
> The controls are responsive and personal as you can choose from 7 varied control styles. From tilting to a virtual wheel or to my personal favorite “touch to turn” method E. Similar to the first Real Racing you can program the game to auto-accelerate and break assist. Don’t let the break assist fool you as the game ain’t a casual experience (which is a good thing!!!) it’s more towards the core to hardcore racing experience found in game like Forza and Gran Turismo.
> The mechanics are solid and realistic. Players will need to understand the tracks as the cars will need to be set up to make wide turns, break for short turns, bump into other cars for turn support, etc. The A.I. in this game is really smart as it will respond to your actions like if you bump into a rival car it will react and drive more aggressively towards you.
>And finally what amazed me about this game the most is how easy and fast it is to get an online match going. Firemint has raised the bar for online gaming on the iPhone as it supports 16 player matches. Though I have noticed lag with 16 players trying to crash into each other at the start of the race… jajajaja. Other than the little lag I literally click the online button on the main menu and boom I’m already in a lobby waiting for other players to join in. Easy and fun Real Racing 2′s online is a stamp of accomplishment and I think many IPhone developers should follow.
> At $9.99 the game is worth every penny!!! It’s a must buy for any racing car junkie that wants a solid experience on there portable phone!!!
